New hair loss research has finally revealed the real reason for male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia). Ask almost any hair loss expert: "What causes androgenetic alopecia?" and they'll say that the scalp follicles are "genetically programmed" for hair loss. This is not true! Androgenetic alopecia causes thinning hair, hair loss and baldness in at least 80% of men and up to 50% of women. And, as the name suggests, there is a genetic link to hair loss.
