Looking For the Best
Hair Loss Shampoo?

Is Nizoral the best hair loss shampoo you can get?

This page explains why Nizoral is widely accepted as the best hair loss shampoo, as well as its side effects, price and money back guarantee.

Nizoral is also an effective anti dandruff shampoo (it's largely regarded as the best anti dandruff shampoo you can get for controlling an itchy and inflamed scalp).

And it may help stimulate some new hair growth too. There are two reasons for this:
1. As well as cleaning your scalp, it can also remove sebum deposits (something normal shampoos won’t do). Sebum can clog hair follicles which could then reduce the nutrient supply needed for your hair to grow.

2. By helping to block the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), Nizoral also appears to be able to prevent hair loss. No other shampoo can do this.

Nizoral used to be a prescription shampoo (2% ketoconazole), but is now available in an over-the-counter strength (1% ketoconazole) probably in recognition that it's the best shampoo for thinning hair from the opinions of most people who try it.

Note - 2% Nizoral is available in Canada without a prescription.

Does it really work?

The reason why Nizoral is seen by many as the best hair loss shampoo is perhaps due to a study (lasting nearly 2 years) conducted to examine its benefits for those suffering androgenetic alopecia.

The effect of an ordinary shampoo used with 2% minoxidil was compared with 2% KCZ (ketoconazole) shampoo (i.e., prescription strength Nizoral).

The Nizoral shampoo was used 2 to 4 times every week. The results indicated that a similar hair size and density were achieved by both KCZ and minoxidil.

Other research also indicates that using 1% (non-prescription) Nizoral will give similar results to the 2% strength Nizoral when used 2 to 3 times a week for 6 months.

Nizoral shampoo can also reduce the itching and inflammation associated with other treatments such as Propecia (finasteride).

Ingredients - what’s in it?

Ketoconazole is the active ingredient – this is an anti fungal drug that’s highly effective at treating dandruff and dermatitis. (Ketoconazole is the reason why Nizoral is possibly the best anti dandruff shampoo available).

How much do you use?

Nizoral shampoo may be needed for an extended period of time if used to treat male pattern baldness. Use it for 14 days, and then 1 or 2 times per week (in rotation with your normal shampoo). You should leave it on your scalp for a while before rinsing it out.

Nizoral’s effects can last for several days, making it is a very inexpensive treatment option.

For men and women?

Yes.

Any side effects?

Mild side effects can include itching and mild irritation. You should not use Nizoral hair loss shampoo if you’re allergic to any of its ingredients (especially sulphites). Severe allergic reactions can include: difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest; swelling of the face (mouth, lips, or tongue), blistered, burning or peeling skin, etc.

The reason why Nizoral is considered by many to be the best hair loss shampoo is due to its active ingredient ketoconazole. However, it should be noted that ketoconazole in tablet form (which is used to treat fungal infections) has been linked to liver damage.

You should consult with your doctor before using it, especially if you’re pregnant, breast feeding or regularly drink alcohol.

Nizoral shampoo should not be used by children.

A Natural Hair Loss Remedy?

Nizoral may be the best shampoo for thinning hair, but it does use an anti fungal drug (ketoconazole). So, is there a way to naturally regrow hair?

I myself only ever use a simple organic shampoo that won't strip or damage the hair shaft even with frequent use. I didn't use drugs, chemicals or expensive hair loss products but I did still manage to naturally regrow hair:

Skull Expansion is the real reason for androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern baldness).
